No steam whistle or a engine is causing this noise, its my night watch calling at 07:00 am. My wife is telling me with a thump its my time to stand up and make coffee when I make noise all night like a four cylinder steam engine at full speed!

Zugschluss!

4:51 PM from Moosbach -2

Oh boy,  what a train! A dream in purple and cream well illuminated by the evening sun. Its the Rheingold express train on the way to Switzerland. There must be a problem on the original line, so the detour is today leads him exceptional via Bad Moosbach.

In front of the train is unmistakeable a Class 01 Steam engine working.

The engine has still its large windshields and the engineer blows the whistle to greet our engineers when the train is passing us. The 2240 PSi of this engine has no problems with the 5 cars of the Rheingold long distance express train.

A short wheeze of our engines whistle is followed by the staccato of the four steam cylinders when the train is accelerating on the light grade of the tracks to leave the station and reach the big steel bridge on the way to Nuschelstadt.

On the right we get a salutation from the switch tower personnel of Moosbach-East and then we are already on the great steel bridge to get with full speed of 120 Km/h into the little Motzberg tunnel.

After the tunnel we reach soon block tower Schalkenstein at Km 21 from where the line is single track continued and we can see on the right the connecting line of a sawmill.

As everywhere on the Moosbach-Rheinheimer-Eisenbahn also here we find ongoing repairing, construction and increments to guarantee the seamless operation of the trains.

.

When our train will reach the destination it will be already too dark outside to see the beautiful landscape around.

Our train is going into a long curve and I do open my window to have a better view on the engine ahead. Pieeeeeep, pieeeeeep, a odd loud sound is coming through the open window, I am beat awfully in my side and i am – awake!

Short after the block and nearby the castle ruin on little Schalkenstein hill we pass the old Sawmill on the left. Today it seems there is no more work to do, already finished for today.

This line is already electrified, but not all of the MRE main lines got today the wire.

We will have at least for while more trains with these beautiful express train steam engines.
