After four years of construction at the layout, the valley of the Moosbach creek was ready for detailing the landscape in September and October 2006. The valley is connecting an old, already 15 years existing segment on the left side to the new part of the layout on the right. The picture sequence is showing the steps creating a realistic landscape. I wanted to try and use low cost material like acryl colours and Styrofoam together with industrial material.

For the creek I used acryl colours, real stones/ballast and E-Z Water from Woodland Scenics. The usage was very easy, just heat and pour E-Z Water according to package directions, to form the river. It is a non-toxic, low-odor product that hardens in minutes. Can be reheated with a heat gun to mold various accents, such as ripples, waves, rapids and to remove scratches.

The water colour is light brown and gives the water a realistic colour. As the water is transparent I wanted to create something interesting in the water. I found caraway seeds are great for imitating fish. I have mixed them into the melted EZ-Water and poured both together into the creek.

For the bushes along the watersides I have dismantled cheap brushes and turf in different colours from Woodland Scenics.
